Aksu is a city in the Chinese province of Xinjiang is in the Southern foothills of Tian Shan and the capital of Aksu Prefecture. The name Aksu literally means white water, and is used for both the town and the river.
Aksu economy is mostly agricultural based, with cotton, in particular long-staple cotton as the main product. Other products include grain, fruits, oils and beets. Industry consists mostly of weaving, cement, and chemical industries.
Aksu is part of the Silk Road and is usually included in relevant tours.
