In the performance hall, famous performing artists of the worldrenowned Beijing Opera theatre of Beijing offer a wide repertoire of Beijing Opera routines every evening. Local flavour snacks and famous Chinese tea are available to the audience during the performances. A display hall and sales hall offer a brief history of Beijing Opera and the stage photos of prominent actors and actresses, Beijing Opera costumes, masks and musical instruments, Chinese calligraphies and paintings, audio and video tapes are all available to purchase. You can even get a photo taken of yourself wearing a Beijing Opera costume and make-up. Beijing Opera presents dramatic plays and figures mainly by infusing four artistic methods: singing, dialogue, dancing and martial art. Singing is utilized to intensify the appeal of the art by all kinds of tones. Dialogue is the complement of singing which is full of musical and rhythm sensation. Dancing refers to the body movements requiring high performing skills. Martial art is the combination and transformation of traditional Chinese combat exercises with dances. | |
