Changchun is the capital and largest city of Jilin province, located at the northeast of the People's Republic of China. It is a sub-provincial city. Changchun is of monsoon climate, locating in the transitional belt from wet area to sub-dry area. The four seasons varies a lot and the climate is rather pleasant.
The whole city has a gardening green area of 5,732.3 hectares, a public green area of 1,667.2 hectares, and a constructed forest area of 6,575.4 hectares. The forest area covers 39% of the whole city, so it is also called as a " Forest City " and as a result of the fine weather is also known as the spring city.
Changchun is one of the last cities with the classic tramway service in China; Chanchung is also the first Chinese city to open the new tramway system (light railway).
