Danyang is located in the south part of Jiangsu Province and is one of the advanced counties (cities) among that of South Jiangsu Province. It has a total area of 1,059 sq. km and has a population of 890,000.
Danyang is located at the meeting points between Shanghai City Circle and Nanjing Economic Circle, between the Yangtze River and Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal.
Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway and Express Railway go through Danyang. It is 200 km away from Shanghai and 68 km from Nanjing. There are Nanjing Lukou International Airport, Shanghai Hongqiao Airport and Pudong international Airport nearby and Changzhou Civil Airport within its area. Dagang, the third largest port along the Yangtze River, is 18 km away from Danyang and has established shipment relationship with more than 160 ports of 50 countries and regions.
