FIND CHINA introduces Hengyang

Hengyang "Wild geese city" in Hunan province is located to the south of scenic Hengshan Mountains and on the middle reaches of the blue Xiangjiang rivers. It has jurisdiction over two cities, five counties and five districts and covers a total area of 15,300 square meters with a population of a little more than seven million.

Hengyang has mild climate sufficient rainfall and sunlight; frequent floods and frost free period of 290 days, Temperatures average 18.8C with the highest of 40.6C and the lowest of - 0.7C the average annual rainfall is 1337mm.

The Railway line from Beijing to Guangzhou passes through Hengyang and the railway line from Hunan to Guangxi starts from here. Road connections include Highway 107,national way 322; "three-nan road" as well as expressways from Beijing to Zhuhai and Hengyang to Kunming passing through this area. Large vessels of up to 1000T can travel directly to Dongting Lake from where they have access to the sea. There are nine waterways including Xiangjiang, Leishui, Mishui and Zhengshui.

The Landscape is stunning with many famous mountains and beautiful waters. A popular tourist destination is The Nanyue Hengshan Mountains known as a "peak of longevity", extending 800 li, with spectacular scenery and temples with both Buddhism and Taoism roots. This ancient city has a rich heritage and local specialties include Chanqiao Chestnut, date, Qidong Pometo, bamboo and tea.
