Jiujiang, formerly called Kiukiang, is a prefecture-level city located on the southern shores of the Yangtze River in northwest Jiangxi Province, China. Jiujiang is located in northern Jiangxi Province.
It is a famous cultural and tourist city in south of the Yangtze River with about 2200 years of history, famous scenic spots are all over the city, and they are Mt.Lushan, Yangtze River, and Poyang Lake.
Jiujiang covers a transitional area between the central sub-tropical and northern sub-tropical regions. Its annual average temperature is 16-17C; Annual rainfall, 1300-1600mm; frost-free period, 239-266 days per year; and the average number of foggy days are never more than 16 days per year. Jiujiang is a city with a temperate climate, ample rainfall, ample sunshine and four distinctive seasons.
Yangtze River is the longest and the biggest water thoroughfare from east to west. Beijing-Kowloon railway is the longest and the highest modern land thoroughfare from south to north in China, the two big arteries join here, so Jiujiang become the golden cross juncture with the Yangtze River extending from the east to the west, with the Beijiang-Kowloon Railway linking the north with the south. The land and water modern transportation is very convenient. Jiujaing port is one of the biggest ports of Yangtze River valley, its passenger transportation and freight transportation is numbering the second and the fourth of all the ports along the Yangtze River. Beijing-Kowloon Railway, Wujiu (Wuhan-Jiujiang), Hejiu(Hefei-Jiujiang) join together, Tongjiu(Tongling-Jiujiang)railways are constructing now; Changjiu and Jiujing Expressways and the 105, 316 national highways pass through Jiujiang. Jiujiang airport is running actively.
